A police officer saves a starving stray puppy from certain death.

When Lieutenant Castle found the puppy, what surprised him was that it was still alive. He was so malnourished that he could no longer use his hind legs , so he barely dragged himself with his forelegs. That, not to mention the conditions of his injuries.

When Castle was found, it was lucky he was still

When the Martin City Police Department couldn’t find a vet or animal rescue to assist them right away, they posted a photo of the dog and a message on their Facebook page asking for help.

Shauna Brown of the Floyd County Animal Shelter responded immediately, coming to the poor dog’s aid . She named the dog Castle after the man who saved him, Shauna says the dog weighed less than 13 pounds and, in addition to his malnutrition and being shot, he appeared to have been hit by a car.

It was evident that Castle had never had a home or a family , as he was quite shy and distrustful of humans, which is not surprising, after having received so much damage from cruel and unscrupulous people.

Shauna posted a video of Castle on Facebook and explained what her case was. She thanked the men she had made possible to rescue her and assured that she under their care had begun to receive treatment for the infected lesions, as well as food.

Castle began receiving medical attention after he was rescued by the police officer who found him. Shauna said that they had already fitted him with a wheelchair, but Castle didn’t respond well to the device , so she focused on improving his health no matter what.

Shauna’s intention was to take the puppy forward as soon as possible, to be able to place it in a loving home and begin to write a story of happiness and harmony for it, however that day seemed so far away.

Little by little, this little boy began to walk again.

With a femur injury, liver problems, infections, and multiple complications, Shauna and Castle didn’t stop trying, even when he was diagnosed with parvovirus .

Faced with this news, the young woman believed that the puppy would never make it. He was so weak, she didn’t know how she could get by.

But sometimes an animal’s will to live can really overwhelm us, and that’s exactly what happened with Castle. After two months of work, love, and dedicated care, the puppy was ready to say hello to life again.

Shauna will never forget her wonderful fighter

The cast on his hind leg was removed, so the little one could walk normally. There was no longer even a shadow of that hungry, scared and injured cub that Lieutenant Castle found abandoned and alone.

Laura Colter Gerard and her husband were the person interested in adopting Castle and making him their spoiled child. It was hard for Shauna to say goodbye to the feisty pup of hers, but it was time to allow her to have that perfect home where she would find love forever.

Now Castle is in the hands of his family forever.

It is the story of one more fighter who knew how to take advantage of the second chance that life gave him. Share this beautiful story of love and perseverance!
