Unfortunately, there is not a country in the world where hundreds of pets are not seen roaming the streets of their cities, instead of being treated as what they truly are, a member of the family that deserves so much respect, consideration and care. like any other.
For many people, stray cats and dogs go unnoticed, but not for a volunteer. For animal lovers, they are beings who deserve the opportunity for a better life than mere survival, and are capable of putting in the rest to save them.
An example of this is Jessica Cochran , a volunteer for more than ten years in PETA’s Community Animals Project (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), who upon learning about the case of the dog Edith, decided to get fully involved to save her.
And it is that poor Edith did not know anything other than the chains that kept her useless, sad and depressed, during her 9 years of life , and she only received daily visits from this activist who did not stop in her efforts to rescue the animal.
Inexplicably, although they tried to rescue the hairy one, the legal procedures were increasingly cumbersome and they were not allowed to do so, especially since the family that held her captive absurdly and cruelly refused to release her .
As time went by, a great feeling of affection for the canine began to develop in Jessica . She pampered her by bringing her her favorite candies and toys, and she even built her a little house where she could shelter from the cold and rain.
In fact, this noble woman is part of this project devised in 2007 to help animals in the same situation as Edith, forgotten, dirty and forced to remain tied up and enslaved, to obtain the quality of life they so badly need.
“Since she was a puppy, Edith was kept chained outdoors in isolation, except for visits from PETA field workers who brought her toys, treats and tummy rubs,” PETA wrote in a post on its account on the social networks.
After establishing such a close and long-standing relationship with the dog, unfortunately PETA spokespersons had the painful duty of reporting Edith’s disappearance.
The unworthy people who kept her in that state decided to move her to another place without telling anyone, losing the possibility of tracking down the little animal in disgrace. None of the activists knew where the hairy one could be found , so it only remained to hope for a miracle.
“When we found out that Edith was moved and we didn’t know where she had gone, I was definitely very worried,” Jes said in a video posted by PETA on her channel where they recounted this story.
However, far from fainting in their attempt to snatch Edith from these evil clutches that held her, efforts were redoubled until, finally, the miracle happened. And they managed to find the whereabouts of the dog, after a search even under the stones that lasted 2 years .
Since 2016, the year in which Edith’s long-awaited and necessary rescue finally happened, Jes adopted her and gave her the home full of love that she had been denied for so long . It turned out that her stubborn and unfair “caretakers” of her, of her decided to move from her and get rid of her, for the good of her furry, of her.
Share this story with a happy ending with your loved ones. Saving an animal will not change the world, but the life of the person rescued will. They also deserve to be happy and live their lives with dignity.
