When it comes at the shelter, a senior dog that is blind can’t stop trembling.

The Cherry Blossom is a completely blind shih tzu dog that , hearing other dogs barking and feeling cold underfoot, will be motionless.

Piper Thomas, founder of a California rescue group called Hand in Paw , visited a shelter in Los Angeles four years ago so she could rescue thoseUnlucky puppy on the euthanasia list .

“It’s hard to see a dog moving alone around a corner and not knowing where it is. The shelter is huge, especially for a blind dog. It was an overwhelming feeling for her and it was too cold. It’s not a friendly place,” Thomas said.

So Thomas did not think twice about doing all the procedures to rescue Cherry , trying to decipher the sad story behind this blind and abandoned dog.

“She feels lost. She was in the streets eating garbage. She was definitely abandoned and we think they probably did it because she couldn’t produce more puppies so someone could sell them,” the woman noted.

Once Cherry Blossom was out of the shelter she began to feel much more relaxed.

“I was very happy. It looked like she had been able to take a deep breath again,” Thomas said.

“It was a mess everywhere. She was suffering from pain in her mouth and she was very confused at the time,” Thomas added.

The noblewoman took the pooch to a vet immediately with her so she could begin receiving treatment for all of her health complications, and she even went with Cherry to an ophthalmologist .

To Thomas’ surprise, the ophthalmologist managed to remove the cataracts that had caused the dog’s blindness and fitted her with special canine lenses. After that, luckily and happily, Cherry was able to see again.

When it was time to find a new home for the dog, the woman worried that she might not be able to find her a comfortable home. But Cherry is very lucky and they were able to find a good home quickly . She was the mother of an old schoolmate of Thomas’s, named Mary Doogley, who came to visit and ended up adopting her after her eye surgery.

Cherry is currently under constant medical supervision due to some ongoing health issues and mainly to keep her bright eyes healthy.

Thomas said: “Watching her go from horribly abandoned to being fully cared for and happier all the time, was amazing.

Without a doubt, at the age of 16, this dog is in the happiest moment of his life, filled with the love and care he always deserves. Our best wishes are with her.
