Banjo is a beautiful German short-haired pointer . These special coats have always been characterized by an excellent sense of smell. Since Banjo was very young, his father soon noticed his talent and decided to train him further.
Months later, Banjo’s sharp nose finally saved another stray puppy’s life. It all started as a simple walk. Banjo and his father go out to enjoy the snow in Saskatchewan, but for some reason the puppy seems to be too focused on sniffing something.

Kerry, his employer, found him with suspicious behavior. By wagging its tail, Banjo shows that it is smelling an animal, so its owner assumes it is simply a lifeless deer or rabbit.
Minutes later, he was shocked to see what it was about.

Banjo walked very confidently through the snow until he came to a tree lined area where a Golden cub appeared to have been buried . The poor thing seemed really disoriented and confused. It was obvious that he had spent a couple of nights there, he had built a kind of burrow for shelter, and he was beginning to look very hungry.
Kerry went over to the Golden to try to help him, but the pup would only let Banjo get close . It was a truly unusual situation, as she imagined that he was a lost puppy, she contacted some rescuers to explain what had happened.
“I was very scared. He only seemed to trust Banjo. He wouldn’t stop shaking,” Kerry said.
Indeed, a few kilometers from there, a woman was desperately looking for her pet that had been stolen in August . The cute Golden was called Louie and there were huge search parties posted everywhere.
Banjo and his father had only gone out to enjoy the snow and they couldn’t imagine that they would end up saving the life of a furry friend. Louie was terrified but when he heard the voice of his owner through a call that Kerry put on speakerphone, his eyes lit up.

Hours later, the woman arrived to be reunited with her puppy in tears of joy . His reaction was so amazing that it was as if in a matter of seconds he had completely forgotten about the difficult days of getting lost in the snow. We hope this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship with the heroic Banjo.
It was a relief to know that Louie would come home and be able to recover. It seems that dogs are not just man’s best friend. Repost!
