Russell is a cat fire survivor who now works at a veterinarian clinic caring for other animals. A few years ago, he was trapped in the ruins of his house for four days, suffering serious burns.

According to abc11.com, Russell has been treated at Animal Emergency Hospital and Urgent Care in North Carolina for the past year, and while there he has assisted other animals in their rehabilitation.

Russell is now cared for by the same animal sanctuary that also cares for other animals like Darla, a fawn who was abandoned when she was around two weeks old.

Darla was hungry but healthy, and Russell has formed an unique attachment with her; they even share a bed.

The cat is currently being treated for burns from the fire, yet she still has enough stamina to approach and purr at the other animals in the clinic, urging them to heal.

The cute cat assists the clinic staff by visiting and soothing other animals in their quarters. Despite his physical limitations, he is a relentless worker.

He won’t take a break unless the staff urges him pleasantly.

A member of staff stated:

“He wants to meet every single one of our patients.” He only wishes to be with them. I’m not sure if he can detect pain in other animals… but he seems to have an incredible capacity to connect with sufferers.”

Russell has a long way to go and may never recover entirely. Fortunately, contributions have enabled him to reside at the clinic full-time, ensuring that he receives the finest possible treatment.

Russell was reunited with his family, where he is carefully cared for in the same way that he cared for other animals in need. He still comes to the clinic to see his friends, who are overjoyed that this affectionate cat is doing well.
