It’s not a good idea to paralyze an animal’s body, especially for cats who prefer to run, climb, and explore the environment with their curious personalities. Mac the ginger cat, on the other hand, has matured into a little Lego-built wheelchair, which he appears to be used to. He’s become a really attractive male cat that enjoys stealing people’s hearts!
Someone was nice enough to bring a kitten found inside an abandoned Mac ‘n’ Cheez box to Massapequa Vet on Long Island, New York, in 2016. Because of nerve damage in his rear legs, he was told they were no longer functioning. Mac fell to the ground, paralyzed. Mac now has a bespoke harness that hangs over his rear legs for helping the move on a regular basis, thanks to the staff’s assistance. To compensate for his paralyzed rear legs, Mac has amazingly strong front legs.
Caring for a cat with rear-leg paralysis is a difficult undertaking that requires patience and dedication on the part of the owner. Because accidents or damage to the legs and back are possible when the cat runs around the home, some owners dress the cat in special clothes called a drag bag or a scoot sack to safely untie it.
